Prada Architects T Shirts
So If I do decide to pursue architecture, I'd at least hope that in around 15-20 years time when I've built some repute as a professional that my wardrobe would include Prada's collection of souvenir t-shirts with the floor plans and frontages of their flagship stores printed on them. The Jersey White Prada Classic t-shirts (understandably abbreviated to JWP for the project) come in different ‘Prada’ shades for the different stores: white for Tokyo, LA and Montenapoleone Donna; red for NYC; sky blue for Montenapoleone Uomo; light green for London and black or white for Galleria. The Village Mentality
I'm currently procrastinating to the level of an art form - ignoring all the pressing issues I should deal with like moving house and the state of my room and saying goodbye to people. I feel like I haven't been creative in such a long time which is really worrying considering I'm supposed to be doing a year of pure design in literally six weeks. I'm not reading at all, I'm not writing a great deal, so I'm pretty much lazing my days away when I'm not at work. I have spent a fair bit of time at the cinema though - there are some amazing films out right now.
Predictably, the film I'm going to mention first is obviously "INCEPTION". The whole world and its cat have been raving about how amazing it is and yes that's rather difficult to dispute! But holy mary's clart that film hurt my head in ways I've never thought possible. I feel cheated, lied to, confused, belittled and intellectually inferior because I simply do not understand and that bloody ending threw me. I actually had to fight the urge to throw my popcorn in the air because I was so bemused by the ending.
Not surprisingly, I'm going to sing praises for "Toy Story 3" - although It was released in the US a while ago, the UK have only recently gotten a full release and I finally completed my journey to adolescence by indulging my inner-child in what was quite rightly - the most epic children's film I've seen in a long time. It had everything - the action, the heartbreak, the tender heroics, even the clichéd lovefest! I would not mind seeing it again...
In a feeble attempt to regain my coolness, I want to express my excitement and curiosity for "GAINSBOURG" which I haven't seen yet! I'm really interested to see how the life story of an icon as groundbreaking as Serge Gainsbourg will be conceptualized and translated into a scripted feature? Gainsbourg is undoubtedly an icon, and Joann Sfars has obviously set out to create a surreal portrait of the artist as a young man with a European-vogue lifestyle and a love for cigarettes. I hope the film is provocative because so was he and it will be interesting to see how his journey, fame and romance is dealt with. It needs to be a fantasy, comedic, an erratic biopic cabaret of twist and turns with a dark punkrock edge. It needs to be flawed to attain a sense of beauty and unpredictability which would be fitting of the man himself. These are just my expectations so I'll wait until I've seen it to really give an opinion!

All Kinds of Amazing
Robyn - Hang With Me official video from Robyn on Vimeo.
Robyn - my favourite Swede in the world has just premiered her latest video for "Hang With Me" which comes off her forthcoming E.P "BodyTalk PT. 2". The track attains the same synth-laden lace like "Handle Me" yet infuses the beat-drum melodics of "Dancing On My Own". Evidently a great follow-up, this one sounds less tragic and emotrodden but not any less beautiful. The song is actually a cover of Paola Bruna and you can hear original version right here and appreciate the contrast between the two styles. The video itself samples episodes of Robyn's life on tour (largely shot on her promo tour of the UK) - performing, singing, hanging out with her band, recording, playing, and eating a greasy breakfast. Naturally its subtle, playful yet eccentric and just nicely shot by Max Vitali who also directed "Dancing On My Own".

Symbolism X Magic
Harpa Einarsdottir hails from the Iceland School of Art & Design where she found and grew her roots in fashion yet has since experimented and flourished within every facet of design. From making costumes and styling as well as running her growing label 'STARKILLER', she has also infused illustration into her collective powers. Her work encapsulates the rural mystique of Iceland which she cites as a constant inspiration and obviously glows in her work. Overall, Mysticism and magic, earth, creatures, love and balance, darkness, mystery and subtlety all find comfort within Harpra's illustrations. They urge to you to find a common ground with your inner conflict and accept there has to be evil so there can be good and to confront your inner demons, flirt with them instead of fighting them, trim their claws and braid their tails and indulge in life.

WEEKDAY + A NON SMOKING GENERATION
I'm really really enthused by this development. Perhaps my favourite retailer on the surface of the earth; 'WEEKDAY' have announced an exciting new collection that celebrates the non-smoking youth culture. Personally, I'm quite happy as I don't smoke... I constantly feel the pressure to basically be a sheep and subscribe to the bland cultural norm expectation of lighting a cigarette simply to look the part. My WEEKDAY fetish has reached a new level of inappropriate.
Here's the caption from WEEKDAY...
WEEKDAY + A NON SMOKING GENERATION: Everyone knows it is dangerous and stupid and it’s a long time since tobacco was even remotely cool. Despite this fact people still become addicted to tobacco. This is why Weekday, in collaboration with A Non Smoking Generation, designed a couple of nice t-shirts and tank tops. On the front of all garments is a print of the classic A Non Smoking Generation logo. One print is made using the puff-print technique of the 80’s with the logo in pastel colours, another print use a laser technique that burns the logo into the garment. Together we created two tank tops and two t-shirts for women and two tank tops and two t-shirts for men.
During the last 30 years A Non Smoking Generation has worked very hard to encourage young people to skip tobacco. This collection manifests Weekday’s view on cigarettes and tobacco in general. So, if you agree with Weekday, show it! The garments will be in all Swedish Weekday stores on June 28th.
A Non Smoking Generation: The main focus for the organisation’s activities is to encourage kids and teenagers never to start using tobacco. The major part of their work is carried out in classrooms where visiting young inspiring ambassadors discuss tobacco with the students. Since the beginning in 1979 these ambassadors have met more than 1,5 million students in schools all over Sweden. A Non Smoking Generation also educates teachers and parents and the organisation had an active role in the creation the law that in 2005 banned smoking in restaurants and bars in Sweden.

Body Talking
I'm fully addicted to Robyn's latest effort; 'BodyTalk pt. 1' - pretty much rinsed it out. I don't know if I'm simply obsessed with her because she's Scandinavian or that she's an independent artist or just for the fact she makes good pop music? Nevertheless, I'm happy and excited for 'BodyTalk pt. 2'

This song isn't from 'BODYTALK pt. 1', its from her forthcoming E.P; 'BODYTALK pt. 2' but I couldn't resist. Its an obvious leak but my ears were curios...

Piers Atkinson
A leading light in British fashion, Piers Atkinson has already cemented his status as an inventor. His designs are eccentric and playful with a high-art edge, thought provoking and needles to say, visually stunning. Atkinson finds his inspiration from the history of fashion as well Jean Paul Goude’s photos of Grace Jones and the work of the jeweler, Elsa Schiaparelli – to name but a few.
I really think millinery design is severely overlooked in the industry and it is invigorating to see a young British milliner putting himself out there and receiving some well deserved attention.
BKLYN
I can't believe its now a year since New York. INSANE. I'm really really happy that I've managed to not just keep in touch with but also meet up with some amazing individuals who I met last summer in NY. I miss everything about those nights, those days that blurred into one dream. Even though I'd been to NY before, the language was the same and largely the culture - I had never felt so far away from home. I can't wait to go back and I'm insanely jealous of everyone who has the opportunity for college in the city.
